St. Casimir
Parish is one of the most beautiful churches that you will ever
see in this
area.
The Parish was
founded in 1898 by Polish immigrants. The main hall in the school
building was used as a church until the present church was built in
1924. The parish is located at the corner of Dunham and Webster
streets in South Bend and has been staffed since its founding by the
Congregation of Holy Cross.
The church has
Romanesque architecture with Italianate chandeliers. The exterior is
red brick in a traditional Polish style. Because of the beautiful
and sophisticated design, St. Casimir church building was given the
highest historical architectural ranking by the Historic
Preservation Commission that possibly can be assigned - 13 of 13.
There are only a few buildings in all of South Bend that have this
designation. Come see it for yourself!
Remember
those who have passed away by visiting the
Memorium page. The list for 2011 has been added.
News
was received of the passing of Fr. Robert Steigmeyer who was in
residence at St. Casimir's in 1997. Click here to read the

In order to have a
Senior club at St. Casimir's Parish, there is a need for more Senior
people. If you are 55 years young or older, you are encouraged to
become a member. Please consider joining the group. Bring along a spouse or a friend to join also. Get away from your
everyday routine and treat yourself. Lunch is served at 12:30pm for
only $3.00 every third Wednesday of the month, followed by a short
meeting, "Free Bingo", and a couple raffles. You deserve to get away
for a couple hours. Call the rectory for more information -
287-9551.
