 Stewardship

Our Parish Today: Our parish is a community called by God to continue the mission of Jesus Christ. For  many years its members have gathered to worship and be nurtured spiritually. St. Casimir has faithfully sought to utilize fully its spiritual and physical resources to provide a network of educational, pastoral, and social ministries

While we celebrate the accomplishments and vitality of our parish, we recognize that we must continue to reach out by expanding current ministries and developing new ones.

As our parish looks to the future, it is apparent that we must adapt to changing needs, meet new demands and plan to implement the vision of tomorrow. For this vision to become reality, for those new demands to be met, we must find new and imaginative sources of income.

Our Parish Tomorrow: As our parish reaches out in new ways to an increasing number of its members, new methods of funding become essential. Sound stewardship through regular collections will continue to provide for day-to-day needs, but additional funds are needed for new and extraordinary programs. Your generosity and support will meet those needs.

Our parishioners have an enviable tradition of stewardship, a worthy symbol of their caring and sharing spirit. Many have been blessed by God with material possessions; riches which flow from God's love for His people. They will be able to show their gratitude by continued sharing through various means described below.

The Need: Existing educational, pastoral and social ministries serve the parish community well. As these ministries continue to expand and reach more people, the involvement of the laity will also continue to expand. Even with the significant involvement and leadership our lay people provide, extension of our excellent ministries will lead invariably to additional costs.

As prudent stewards, we must look ahead and plan to cope with these costs.

With God's help, we can reach out in more ways to more members of our parish family. Your generosity will help our vision become reality.

     The Opportunities

Wills... Through a bequest in your will you may make a gift to the Church at your death, but, determine now, the nature and extent of that gift. You may choose to set aside a percentage of your estate or a specific amount of money. You may choose to leave the Church the residue of your estate after bequests to your family, friends, and charity. You may also make a specific bequest of property such as real estate, personal belongings, goods, business interests or securities. You may make the bequest for specific or general purposes.

Gifts in Kind... Gifts in kind can be the perfect way to give. This includes jewelry, works of art, coin or stamp collections, antiques and royalties-usually assets which have become valuable over the years.

Gift Annuities... You may give cash to the Parish, but retain the investment income for your lifetime or for a survivor's lifetime, after which the principal will go to the program in your name.

Trusts... You may establish, with a significant gift assigned to the parish, a charitable remainder trust. You and your designated beneficiaries can receive the income from the trust assets for life. Thereafter, the principal can be given to the program or be continued in trust for the benefit of the program.

Lifetime Gifts... You may wish to give the parish a capital asset such as real estate, securities or other property that has increased in value since you acquired it and that would produce taxable capital gain if you were to sell it. You may, of course, make a gift of property that has not appreciated in value. With this type of gift, you may retain the annual income generated by the property.

Life Insurance... Life insurance policies or the dividends paid on policies make a practical gift. This is an attractive method of providing both for your family and your church. Perhaps you have a policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose; or you would like to give a small annual gift in the form of premium payments that will ultimately deliver a larger gift
